Change Doesn't Feel Easy - Here's Why That's OK
Mar 19, 2025
We often think that if we really want to change - we should feel motivated.
Clear.
Ready.
Sure of ourselves.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned, both as a coach, and through my own very human experience with what I call procrasti-fear:
Change doesn’t usually arrive wrapped in clarity or confidence.
It arrives in the messy middle.
The “I’m not sure.”
The “This feels hard.”
The “Who am I to do this?” thoughts that sneak in just before something new begins.
We tend to believe that discomfort means we’re off track.
That we’ve done something wrong.
That we should pause, retreat, or try again when we’re more “ready.”
But the truth is?
No change comes from comfort. It comes from moving through this discomfort.
And this isn’t a sign that you’re failing, it’s a sign that you’re doing something new, brave, and something that matters to you.
Sometimes, we desperately want to change… but we’re not quite sure how.
Other times, we do know what would help - and still find ourselves procrastinating, doubting, or putting it off.
That’s not weakness.
That’s being human.
And when we can meet that moment with self-compassion, instead of self-judgment - everything begins to shift.
Maybe you’ve felt this too:
-
That moment where you know a walk would help your mood, but you talk yourself out of it, and end up feeling worse.
-
The quiet resistance to starting a workout when your mind whispers, “You’re too tired,” or “You don’t know what you’re doing.”
The internal tug-of-war when you crave nourishment, not just from food, but from rest, movement, connection, yet it feels safer to scroll, snack, or start over tomorrow.
These tiny, uncomfortable moments matter, and they are the doorway to something new.
They are the exact places where self-trust is built - and where habits begin to shift.
I know this because I’ve lived it, too.
For a long time, I found it deeply uncomfortable to put myself out there.
To send regular emails.
To speak my truth on social media.
To challenge mainstream ideas around dieting, weight, and what it means to be “healthy.” Why?
Because I didn’t think I knew enough, and I worried about what people might say. However, that quiet voice inside me - the one that wanted to help women like yourselves, let go of food guilt, reconnect with your bodies, and find something more sustainable - eventually got louder than my fear.
And over time, with support, mindset work, and showing up (even when it felt awkward)…I moved through the discomfort.
And now?
I love what I do. I look forward to writing these weekly emails for you all.
I feel grounded, steady, and confident in my work.
But it didn’t happen overnight.
It wasn’t effortless.
It came from practicing self-kindness, taking my time and not putting pressure on myself.
And that’s exactly how I support the women I work with.
Not with a rigid plan that assumes you’ll follow it perfectly.
But with practical guidance, personalised support, and the emotional tools to walk with you through the parts that feel uncertain, overwhelming, or messy.
Because that’s where real change happens.
So if you’re in a season of wanting something to shift - whether it’s the way you eat, move, think, or show up for yourself - I want you to know:
You don’t have to feel “ready.”
You don’t have to feel confident.
You don’t have to do it alone.
If it feels uncomfortable right now, that’s not a red flag - that’s your starting point.
Let’s take the next step together.
